What is Pokeball?
Pokeball is a sphere device which is used to capture and contain Pokemons. It is also known as the symbol of Pokemon Go. There are many different types of Pokeballs like Great Ball, Ultra Ball, Master Ball. Every type of Pokeball is different in color as compared to the other ones and obviously, the catch rate varies as well.
How to Get Free PokeBalls?
- You can retrieve Pokeball from while leveling up.
- You can purchase them from the Pokemon Go store
- After a certain level, Great Balls and Ultra Balls are available at the PokeStops
- Noob players wish they could get limitless, PokebBalls but that’s not possible either you’ll have to spend money or use intelligently.
- If you are able to find an area with four or five PokeStops and visit each one in a five minute loop, you can get dozens of PokeBalls (and lots of XP) in a relatively short amount of time.
- If the bag is full, you won’t be able to grab new items from the PokeStops. so be sure to toss out any unnecessary Potions or Revives that you don’t need before going on a Pokeball run.
- Players can retrieve thrown PokeBalls by tapping them when they missed.
Pro Tip: Razz Berry first as it makes catching them much easier. Lesser chance of wasting the Pokeball.

Types of Pokeball
Basically, there are 4 types of Pokeball and we’re going to discuss each of them in detail.
Each Pokeball type has its own Pros and Cons
Bloopers: Master Ball is the best among all of them
Each Pokeball name and details are mentioned briefly.
- Poke Ball
- Great Ball
- Ultra Ball
- Master Ball
Red Pokeball is the most known and most iconic of all the Pokeballs. It is round shaped device with simple red and white colour. This Pokeball is the cheapest and most known as compared to others. The players can catch wild Pokemon with it.
When you play the game for the first time, you will receive 50 free Pokeballs as a welcome gift
The second tier is the blue balls I mean the Great balls. It is a sphere device with 3 different colors blue, red and white. It is slightly (1.5x) better than the regular Pokeball and that’s why it has higher catching rate too.
When you reach on level 12, You will receive 20 Great balls for Free
The 3rd tier pokeball is known as Ultra ball. It is a round shaped device. It has 3 different colors black, yellow and white. It is better than both Regular and Great pokeballs combined. It has exactly(2.0x) better catching rate as compared to the other two.
Ultra balls will be unlocked when you reach at Level 20 and you will receive 20 Ultra ball as a reward.
After reaching Level 20, Ultra balls will also be available at PokeStops.
Master Ball: Best Pokeball
Master ball is spherical in shape just like all other Pokeballs. A horizontal black band divides the Pokeball into 2 parts. The upper half is covered with purple and pink circles on both sides. Also, there is a white letter “M” written on the upper part. The lower part is like white like other balls. It is a very rare Pokeball. It has the best catch rate than any other Pokeball.
You can catch the wild Pokemon without any fail with Master Ball. Mostly it is used to capture rare and Legendary Pokemons.
I still remember old days when I used to play Pokemon Fire Red on my PC, I captured Articuno, Mewtwo, and Snorlax with the Master Ball but back then I had access to cheat codes and I could generate as many Pokeballs as I want, but now such cheats are no longer applicable.
The inside of a Pokeball
Let’s get started, Everybody know Pokemons are captured in the Pokeballs but no one knows what happened to the them when they are inside the pokeballs?
We have done detailed research on it and found different types of theories about it.
Best 3 Possible Main Theories:
- Data Theory
- Physical Size Theory
- Ideal Environment Theory
Each theory has its value and merits but no can say any of them as 100% accurate or definite right theory.
1) Data Theory
This theory tells us when a trainer catches a Pokemon, it converts the Pokemon into data and it is stored in Pokeball as a data. When the trainer wants to call the Pokemon he/she just needs to throw the ball and the Pokemon will be out of the Pokeball with a white beam of light.
This theory doesn’t tell us, how the Pokemon will be knowing about their surroundings? In other words, we can say that Pokemon becomes virtual beings when they are inside the Pokeball.
2) Physical Size Theory
According to this theory, When the trainer wish to catch a Pokemon into a Pokeball, then the Pokeball shrinks Pokemon to a size in which it will be fit inside the Pokeball.
Now, we will explain how the Pokemon shrinks? When the trainer wants to catch a Pokemon into a Pokeball the red light is emitted from the Pokeball. This red light shrinks the size of the Pokemon. When the trainer throws the Pokeball, the white light emits from the Pokeball and this white light thus enlarge the Pokemon to his original size.
Some of the Pokemons want to stay outside of the Pokeball because it may seem cruel and inhumane. That’s why Pikachu never wanted to go in the Pokeball.
3) Ideal Environment Theory
This theory tells us each Pokeball is designed according to Natural habitats for the pokemon like food and a perfect place to relax and sleep. Some people think that pokemon have bed, TV and other forms of entertainment in the Pokeball.
Although there is no such evidence that can prove this theory but people have faith in it.
Note: I like the Physical size theory. Please do let us know in comment section Which theory do you like the most?
